Many of the participants who enter College Bound are exhibiting poor life skills, including a lack of self-motivation, poor peer relationships and poor attitudes towards academics. Challenging outdoor activities, motivational workshops and team building experiences help to make these weaknesses become strengths. During this phase, goal setting, time management, organizational and relationship development are taught. This is also the time when academic assessment is done and learning styles are determined.

Further, participants are given the necessary household skills that will carry them through their stay at College Bound.
